In the last quarter 2014, many studies have concluded that Samsung sold its number one spot in the smartphone industry.
Others have claimed that Samsung and Apple were more or less tied to that point. It must be said that while everything went wrong for the South Korean, the Apple brand has made a splash with its new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
But in the first quarter 2015, according to data from Strategy Analyics, Samsung is again the leader.
Indeed, the South Korean ships have no less than 83 million units against 61.2 million for Apple. And its market share in the first quarter was 24.1% against 17.7% for Apple.
"Samsung continues to face challenges in Asia and elsewhere, but its overall performance has sufficiently stabilized to dethrone Apple and resume its position as the world's leading vendor of smartphones," says the executive director of Strategy Analytics.
Note that the first quarter corresponds to the months of January, February and March, which means that these data do not normally take into account the arrival of Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.
However, Samsung is the leader in terms of volume. And an internal perspective, these data should not be very rosy since Samsung is quite far from the 89 million units (a market share of 31.2%) which would correspond to the same period in 2014.
In essence, the manufacturer is not yet completely out of the woods, either in terms of volume or profit. But Samsung hopes to resume in the second quarter thanks to sales of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge whose demand is rather high. The mobile division of Note that this corresponds to 53% of its turnover.
