The idea may seem surprising, but Apple should launch an application for storing genetic heritage on the Cloud, to analyze it from their smartphone. The idea is to better understand the disease and improve medicine, a multitude of applications should eventually be able to revolutionize the medical field.
Apple will propose to entrust your genetic makeup
The firm Apple has never hidden his interest in the medical field, which Google sees as an important growth driver for its high-tech products. The Cupertino company launched last March the ResearchKit platform which aims to centralize all medical information collected by the various terminals of the brand and which is the basis for developers to create applications and scientific research. This platform should be able to help the health of all users, but also the medical community as a whole to advance scientific knowledge with a huge database.
Apple intends to go further in this process and has partnered with Mount Sinai Hospital and the University of California for the collection of DNA. Once genetic sequencing performed, the data can be archived in a cloud and very easily accessible from an iPhone. The first project that Apple wants to tackle with this extensive database is a better understanding of premature births.
June 8 will be held WWDC conference where developers around the world can discover this application. Volunteers wishing to advance medicine should use a saliva kit, which will be analyzed by a partner laboratory. In the future, smartphones, connected watches and "wearable computer" are all potential sources of data to cross-check information and understand better our health.
