SALT to introduce folding smartphone

SEL offers a major innovation for this year in terms screen. There are generally two touchscreen devices adopted by consumers in 2014: the smartphone and tablet. The smartphone for communication and entertainment. The tablet to a larger screen for comfortable navigation. However, this situation may change with the introduction of folding touchscreens.

Semiconductor Energy Laboratory (SEL) to discover the innovation of the year in Japan: OLED touchscreen with a size of 8.7 inches and a resolution of 1920 x 1080 (254ppi). In addition to including all the advantages of OLED (use very low power, excellent color, sharpness), SALT managed to fold the screen into three, which compresses the screen 8.7 inches to a device that is closer to the size of a smartphone.
SEL thought an intelligent combination of smatphone and tablet

The screen itself weighs 6 grams and is clearly a prototype for the moment. But this show is already giving us a glimpse of the possible future for tablets and smartphones. It could also mean that the tablet and smartphone can finally merge into a single device.

This triple display should work without the need to develop electronic components that are capable of bending. The prototype folds into a solid structure. It can then be used to house the necessary components that allow a telephone at will compress.

Of course, if this folding screen comes on the market, the question of reliability is still in question. Would he cope with folding and unfolding continued for a whole day? We'll find out next year if a provider smartphone or tablet gives an interest in technology SEL.
